Sometimes in life you recognize that what you’re experiencing – the change you’re being called to make…the recognition that this is no longer how you want to be – won’t be handled by another paint job, a new appliance or a different wallpaper. Sometimes you realize that you’ve got to take it all the way down to the studs and start again.
And you don’t want to. Because it’s messier, no doubt about it. You might find mold. Or water damage. Or termites. And when you find it, you’ll have to deal with it. And that means more disruption, more time and more expense.
What’s more disruptive over time is not the confrontation required to bring about meaningful change but the damage caused by pretending you don’t need to.
You can tinker all you like. Sooner or later it just won’t be enough.
