As I was picking up my participant badge for the conference I am attending this week the man behind the desk, in an effort to match my information with the correctly colored lanyard, asked me if I was a “VIP.”
Surprised by his question I impulsively replied, “No.”
A missed opportunity.
As I was walking away two better responses dawned on me:
“I like to think so.” After all, my impact starts with knowing I belong right here.
“Some people think so.” Family, friends, clients and peers. If they don’t not much else matters.
Special access has nothing to do with the color of our credentials and everything to do with the quality of our belief in what we are here to do and who we are here to serve.
